Shiraz

Savaterre 2012 Shiraz

"Stinky, smoky, stalky, plush with fruit and oak, lengthy. Complex but not at the expense of immediate deliciousness. Has a sinewy character to the tannin but it wraps like a genome through the wine, twisting both flavour and dry control as it motors through. It’s a remarkable shiraz. Meaty, smoky and dry but with plenty of dark, berried flesh. As the kids now say: boom....Rated: 94+ Points "

Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front : December 2013

Well six years on and hasn't this wine blossomed.  Boom indeed Campbell!

The youthful exuberance has subsided and its really started hitting its straps. Its complex. Its ethereal. Its delicious.

Given its remarkable development we are now announcing a very limited Cellar Release of our 2012 Savaterre Shiraz.

At several blind tasting with other Beechworth Vignerons it has been highly acclaimed as a great Rhone or Burgundy.
I am more of the opinion it looks like a great Cote Rotie the likes of which are prohibitively expensive.

So much so the vignerons thanked me for my generosity in bringing such an expensive bottle to a tasting - you can imagine my enjoyment when all was revealed!

Everything is in its place for a very complete wine.  We do not have much available so please grab some if you like the medium bodied, highly detailed and polished wines of the Rhone.

You must decant this wine for 2-3 hours to really let it shine. Please purchase through our online store or email via this link: Email Savaterre
