2000 Q.E.D Pinot NoirSOLD OUT

Q.E.D is Latin "quod erat demonstrandum"

"Which was to be proved"

Q.E.D is the label for our close-planted Beechworth Pinot Noir from young vines (less than 8 years old).

I am strongly convinced that the best Pinot Noir comes from unfiltered, close-planted vines of greater than 8 years of age.

Our first Savaterre Pinot Noir is due for release in Autumn 2004.

Tasting Notes:

Brilliant. Intense dark crimson.

Far from the mainstream. A powerful and brooding wine with powerful aroma, texture intensity and length. Made using typically Burgundian techniques. Wild yeast, open fermenters, pigiage, and natural malolactic.

The bouquet has powerful earthy aromas of morello cherries, violets, roses, white truffles and some leather.

Mouth filling richness. Deep rich ripe plum and sour cherry. A silky textural wine. Spices such as cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg are the result of some judicious use of new French oak. The tannins are ripe and provide the structure this powerful wine requires.

Decant well in advance of enjoyment and never serve over 18 degrees C as this results in the purity of the aromas being reduced. The wine will develop in the glass.

All grapes under this label are sourced exclusively from the Savaterre Vineyard in Beechworth. The wine was matured for approximately 2 years in the very best French oak barriques.

Unfiltered. Store at 14C.
